Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)

There is not national Prostate Cancer or PSA screening programme, however every man aged 50 and older has a right to have a PSA blood test. If you wish a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test we recommend booking a routine face-to-face GP appointment. We would strongly recommend this if you have:

  • urinary symptoms
  • family history of prostate cancer
  • you are uncertain about whether to get the test.

If you want to have your PSA checked but do not wish a GP consultation; you have no urinary symptoms; and have no family history of prostate cancer, you can book the test by calling reception. If this is the case we would strongly recommend reading the information on the links below:
